In-kennel training allows us to do the foundation work to the training while you are away on vacation or in your busy workday. We provide one-on-one training with your dog concentrating on your specific needs. You leave your dogs with us and when you pick up we will show you what we’ve done.

During the day your dog with get to make new friends (unless they are aggressive then they will not socialize with others until they demonstrate that they are capable of playing nicely with others), they will get one on one training and then at night they get to relax in a comfortable bed.

A good dog doesn’t come by chance. It takes training, sensitivity, and some quality attention before you can expect to see good dog behavior from your dog. The best time to teach your dog not to chew up your leather shoes or engage in other “bad” dog behaviors is when you first adopt your dog, no matter what his age.

At K-9 City we require that your dog be current on all vaccinations. Vaccines required are: Bordetella, DHPP, Influenza, and Rabies. We require the Bordetella vaccination to be given within 6 months of entering the facility. Even though your dog has had the Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and the Influenza (Flu) vaccination, there is still a risk that your dog can contract kennel cough, flu or other viruses. Remember that germs are spread through social contact, sharing toys, drinking from the same water bowl and are airborne.

Share your problem with us and we will show you a solution.

Understanding natural instincts and behaviors inherent in your animal will help you meet your dog’s needs and prevent canine anxiety.

    DOG PSYCHOLOGY 101

It is really quite simple. Dogs need the following to survive and function in the wild:

To be part of a pack or team.

    A position on that team.

A specific job to perform within the pack or team.

Your family represents a new team for your dog. Give your dog a consistent role position within his/her new family team, therefore giving him/her a specific task to perform. The objective in proper, loving dog training is to help your dog develop self-control. Now you want a psychologically healthy dog. He/she must be given a consistent role position within their new family team, therefore giving them a specific task to perform.

When the dog receives conflicting role position messages or he has no specific task to perform, canine anxiety occurs. An anxious dog reacts with the dreaded separation anxiety, digging, barking, jumping, chewing, and others. All these destructive behaviors are your dog’s cry for help! As responsible and caring owners, you must learn how to meet the needs of man’s best friend.

    23 PEOPLE TRAINING ----- 13 DOG TRAINING

In Dog Psychology 101, we learned that dog training is actually more people training than dog training. Overall, we must learn “dog language” and our canine companions must be taught “people talk”. This is critical for the following reasons:

Safety for our dogs – they must learn to respond to us

    Owner’s Convenience

    Curing canine anxiety

The objective in proper, loving dog training is to help your dog develop self-control.

LEARN THE ART OF DOG PRAISE: “GOOD DOGGIE” IS NOT ENOUGH!

A written guarantee is difficult, because no one knows when your dog will decide to challenge you. So much depends on both you and your dog.
At K-9 City, our job is to develop depth and reliability in your dog. We offer classes during the day and evening.
Anyone working with the dog is welcome to come to class. Check our schedule for the next upcoming group class.

When you pick up your dog from a boarding and training program it is important to follow thru with a private session or a group class.
Please consult with our behaviorist which is better for you to do.
